If youre interested in it: there is a very common mod on maps which slows any player unit by 50% for basically the entire map, which is not only extremely unfun for any player, it also makes melee and summoner builds absolutely unplayable in difficult maps. unfortunately this is largely missing from path of diablo (you can only reroll a map with 6 pskulls which are already quite scarce), which is probably the largest critique of this path of diablo season from players, and personally the reason i quit playing this season on lvl 94
Path of exile and pd2 has systems in place to craft maps for really cheap, like making a normal map into a rare, or rerolling rare maps. its alternative endgame content in pod and pd2, and the main endgame content in path of exile magic and rare maps have modifiers on them which usually make the map more difficult, in return for more loot and exp. maps drop as items, they can be normal/magic/rare like usual. Maps are items, which you can activate once you completed the story (or some level treshhold), and opens a high level area full of monsters and usually a tough boss.
